TIBHS first GCSE students achieve outstanding results

Students and staff at TIBHS are celebrating today after collecting a remarkable set of GCSE results, with 95% of students achieving A*- C including Maths and English.

This is the first year that students at the school have taken the exams, and it demonstrates the excellent work the school is doing to deliver the very best education to young people.  The results are likely to make TIBHS one of the top performing schools in the country, with students achieving significantly above the national average, which last year was 64.9%.

TIBHS’ students also make excellent progress at the school as measured by the Department for Education’s Progress 8 metric.  This shows that TIBHS students on average achieve more than a grade higher than their attainment level on entering the school would suggest.

Students also performed well in the English Baccalaureate, which has been introduced by the Government to recognise achievement in a range of academic and challenging subjects.  It is awarded to students who achieve A*-C in each of English, Maths, two Sciences, a modern foreign language and History or Geography.  Last year, only around 25% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate but TIBHS students’ results were well above this level, with 72% securing the qualification.

Today’s outstanding results mean students have the opportunity to go on to pursue further study or career options of their choice.

Mubaaruck Ibrahim, Principal at TIBHS, said:

“Congratulations to all our GCSE students on their excellent results, which are likely to make TIBHS one of the top performing schools in the country.

“Students should be proud of their achievements, and we are delighted to see these results from our first cohort to take GCSE examinations.  These are exceptional foundations for us to build on.”

Mo Isap, Chair of Governors at TIBHS, said:

“Today’s results are testament to the hard work of students, staff and parents and I want to thank them all for their efforts.

“We are delighted at the outstanding achievements of students, and that we are equipping them with the skills to flourish and become the leaders of tomorrow.”
