‘OUTSTANDING’ TIBHS

Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School has been given the top rating by Ofsted.

Students, staff, governors and parents at Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School are celebrating after Ofsted rated the school as ‘outstanding’. This judgement was made only a couple of weeks after their sister school, Tauheedul Girls, was also rated as ‘outstanding’ across the board.

A team of inspectors spent two days at the school in late March, observing lessons and talking to parents, staff and students.

In their report, inspectors praised many aspects of the school, saying:

“Students achieve outstandingly well. The proportion of students making better progress than expected from their individual starting points is exceptionally high. They achieve outstandingly well because teaching is consistently good with much that is outstanding.”

“Behaviour in lessons and around the school is exemplary. Attendance levels are exceptionally high.”

“The school is exceptionally successful in developing students’ speaking and communication skills.”

“Teachers expect the students to work hard and give of their very best. They are rarely, if ever, disappointed with the response.”

“The school prepares students exceptionally well for future success and life in a multicultural society.”

“Parents are exceptionally supportive.”

In their DfE press release the Schools Minister, Lord Nash, said:

“I congratulate staff and pupils at Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School on the publication of their first Ofsted report. Achieving this Outstanding rating in only their second year of opening is a fantastic achievement and all down to the exceptional hard work and determination of the teachers and pupils at the school. I am particularly impressed by the glowing comments Ofsted has made about their exceptional success in developing students’ speaking and communication skills, the way the school is preparing them for future success and life in a multicultural society, as well as pupils’ exemplary behaviour and attendance.

“This school is an excellent example of how the free school programme is offering pupils and parents a high standard of education in Blackburn, Lancashire and right across the country.”

The school’s Chair of Governors Mo Isap stated:

“It is wonderful for TIBHS to join its sister school in being recognised as an outstanding school by Ofsted. I would like to thank and congratulate all the staff, parents, carers, pupils and fellow governors for all the hard work, commitment and dedication that have led to TIBHS becoming an outstanding organisation in such a short amount of time.”
