TIBHS’ pupils quiz football leaders on secrets to success
Pupils at a Blackburn secondary school quizzed two ex-footballing chairmen to learn about their secrets to success.
Former Chairman of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, Rob Coar and Former vice-chairman of the Football Association (FA) and Arsenal Football Club, David Dein MBE, joined Year 11 pupils at Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School (TIBHS) for a virtual Q&A session.
In his role as Chairman of Blackburn Rovers, Rob Coar helped guide the team to their historic Premiership title win 25 years ago. He also oversaw several iconic signings including Alan Shearer from Southampton and Chris Sutton from Norwich City.
For more than 20 years, David Dein was a highly influential figure at Arsenal Football Club. During his reign as vice-chairman he was responsible for appointing legendary manager, Arsene Wenger – a decision which led to Arsenal winning the Premier League three times and the FA Cup seven times. David Dein is also Ambassador for the Premier League and International Ambassador for the Football Association.
During the lively 40-minute session, pupils interviewed the pair about their many successes and their roles in building a winning team.
Majid Ditta, Principal at TIBHS, said that pupils had thoroughly enjoyed the session and that both Rob Coar and David Dein had helped inspire pupils to achieve their ‘goals’.
He said: “Pupils and staff have been working exceptionally hard to ensure that they continue to make excellent progress during these difficult times.
“We arranged for Mr Coar and Mr Dein to speak to our pupils to help inspire them to aim high and to work as a team so that they could achieve their own ambitions.
“The session was truly enlightening and thoroughly enjoyed by us all. We would like to thank Rob and David for taking part in the Q&A and for sharing their highly entertaining experiences with our pupils.”
