TIBHS takes two spots on national education awards shortlist
Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School has made the national headlines again, having been shortlisted in the TES School Awards in not one, but two categories.
The school itself is in the running for Secondary School of the Year, alongside schools from London, Ireland and other parts of the North West. In the TES School Awards Headteacher of the Year category, TIBHS’ Principal, Mubaaruck Ibrahim, has made the shortlist.
Mubaaruck, who has been with Tauheedul Boys’ since January 2014, was delighted to hear the news of TIBHS occupying two spots on the awards’ shortlist. He said:
“For our school to have made the awards shortlist is testament to the hard work of all members of staff across the school, and to our students who achieve excellent results year in, year out. It’s very humbling to also be shortlisted personally; I feel very proud.”
Mufti Hamid Patel CBE, Chief Executive of Star Academies, the multi-academy trust that runs TIBHS, added:
“Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School goes from strength to strength. After being ranked second nationally in the Government’s Progress 8 league table earlier in the year, to hear that the school is now shortlisted for a national award is incredibly gratifying.
“Star Academies is well known for its very high standards of leadership and Mubaaruck exemplifies these. He deserves his place on the awards shortlist and I congratulate him.”
TES School Awards winners will be revealed on Friday 23rd June at an awards ceremony in London.
