TIBHS confirmed as one of the best schools in the UK for progress
Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School is once again named as one of the highest achieving schools in the country, data released by the Department for Education has confirmed today.
The interim school league tables place TIBHS third of all schools in England for progress, and in the top 1% for attainment.
In the headline Progress 8 performance measure, TIBHS can boast a Progress 8 score of +1.59, up from a score of +1.16 last year. Progress 8 scores reflect the amount of progress pupils have made during their time at secondary school, taking into account their prior attainment at primary school.
93% of TIBHS pupils achieved a ‘standard pass’ at grades 9 to 4 in English and Maths in a year when new, tougher exams were introduced in these subjects. This is more than 30 percentage points higher than the national average of 63%.
63% of TIBHS pupils were awarded the English Baccalaureate, a qualification that recognises pupils who achieved grades 9 to 5 in English and Maths as well as grades A* to C in two sciences, a modern foreign language and either History of Geography. Nationally, around a fifth of pupils achieved the E Bacc qualification.
In addition, TIBHS has achieved an Attainment 8 score of 61.9, placing it in the top 1% of all schools in England.
Principal of TIBHS Mubaaruck Ibrahim welcomed the news of TIBHS’ ranking in the national school league tables. He said:
“I’m incredibly proud that once again our school is delivering some of the best results in the country. This is fantastic news for our pupils and their families who can be certain of a very high standard of education at TIBHS.
“This year’s outstanding GCSE results firmly placed TIBHS among the schools where pupils achieve the best grades and make the most progress. In a year when tougher exams were introduced for English and Maths, each of our pupils should be proud of their individual achievements and also what they demonstrated they were capable of as a cohort.
“I want to pay tribute to the hard work and dedication of our school staff, without whom TIBHS would not be so high up in the secondary school league tables for progress and attainment. Together we will continue to build on this success, supporting our pupils to achieve educational excellence and giving them the best possible start as they set out on their life journeys.”
The school league tables can be viewed on the Department for Education website.
