TIBHS pupil promotes children’s wellbeing in NSPCC role
A pupil from TIBHS has appeared on a popular TV programme to promote the wellbeing of young people as part of his work for the NSPCC.
Muhammad Sahal, 13, was appointed to the national children’s charity’s Young People’s Board for Change in March. The board works to raise awareness of issues of concern to young people – whilst also working to advise NSPCC staff and trustees.
Muhammad appeared on the Sky children’s news programme, FYI, alongside his fellow board members to promote the NSPCC’s inaugural Childhood Day in June.
For Childhood Day, the NSPCC asked families, friends and colleagues from across the UK to celebrate childhood by organising a play event to raise money and help keep children safe.
On the programme, Muhammad spoke about the importance of play and screen free time.
He said: “I think children don’t play enough. They are too busy stuck on screens. You stock up on games and encourage children to get creative and have fun with family and friends.”
Majid Ditta, Principal at TIBHS, said that Muhammad’s work with the NSPCC was incredibly worthwhile and would help to provide positive outcomes for children across the country. He said that Muhammad’s work is a wonderful example of how pupils at TIBHS are encouraged to realise the vision of Nurturing Today’s Young People and Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders.
