TIBHS shortlisted for another national education award

Our school is in the running for another national education award.

TIBHS has been nominated in the Education Business Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony in London on Thursday 6 July.

These awards aim to recognise investment in education across the UK. TIBHS’ shortlisting is in the category of ‘outstanding progress’ in a secondary school. The accolade will be awarded to the secondary school that evidences outstanding management of its facilities, finances and human resources. The winner will also demonstrate excellent educational progress for its pupils.

Earlier this year TIBHS was named among the top 1% of all UK schools for progress and overall performance, according to data against the Government’s new Progress 8 measure which tracks pupils’ performance between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4.

Our school is one of the highest performing in the country: in the summer of 2016 TIBHS’ first GCSE cohort achieved top results with 95% of pupils gaining grades A* to C in English and maths.

Our Principal Mubaaruck Ibrahim said:

“Each time our school is shortlisted for an award it is very humbling. It is deserved recognition of the hard work that all members of the TIBHS team contribute to making our school an outstanding place to learn, and also to our pupils who strive for excellence in all aspects of their school life.”

The school is no stranger to awards ceremonies in the capital, having visited London in late June for the TES School Awards, in which TIBHS was shortlisted in two categories.

More locally, our principal Mubaaruck Ibrahim was recently named Secondary Headteacher of the Year at the Lancashire Telegraph Schools Awards. Read more about this story.
